Mike Karl became homeless on the streets of Lansing. Without a support group and friends and family not aware he was homeless, he started building friendships on the streets. Introduced to a pastor from Kalamazoo doing street outreach in Lansing, that personal relationship changed his life, placing him in a hotel and teaching him to face his problems, showing him support and most importantly, LOVE.
In the winter of 2010 Mike Karl took a pledge to live homeless one week a year in the middle of winter during homeless awareness week broadcasting live on the internet it caught the eye of the media in 2013.

In the winter of 2010 Mike Karl took a pledge to live homeless one week a year in the middle of winter during homeless awareness week broadcasting live on the internet it caught the eye of the media in 2013.
Using social media he shared the needs of the homeless in ‘’ real time ‘’ allowing the community to fill those needs one person at a time.
In 2014 he formed the first ever community funded hotel program at the Magnuson hotel in Lansing allowing the general public to pay for a homeless person or families a room for a night. For a small fee, someone who would be sleeping on the street NOW had a warm bed and HOPE.
in 2016 HIS Non Profit purchased the First ever Homeless Hotel in Lansing Michigan giving 52 rooms on a 24/7 basis to the Homeless!
to date there have been OVER 30,000 + safe sleeps provided by the community.
